how strangers from reddit helped me build a better product

recap

in my last blog i wrote about how i built commitposts. here i will share about how i'm making it better

product launched. what next?

the actual phase that decides how your product will perform is how willing u are to take feedbacks and make it better.

after i launched commitposts on x. i was like what next? then after seeing people on x suggesting reddit - a good place to show/market ur product, i did the same.

researched communities & wrote my first post about commitposts.

what i gained ?

tbh, i got to some really valuable feedbacks. some of 'em :

  • the way i should position my product
  • single line of trust copy - "we only read ur commits/PRs messages and code stays with u" that removed the biggest hesistaion people had
  • landing page should start with problems, not solutions. more like story telling which should be compelling enough
  • showing a simple before/after section can urge users to try the product

what i did after seeing such nice comments ?

i instantly opened my laptop, fixed and tried to take as much value from each of them, implemented whatever made sense and improved a lot in commitposts that single day.

lesson learnt

never settle after launching ur product. that's just the start. u should now be invested in showing ur product, taking feedbacks, fixing them and making it better each day. u will realize it sooner or later as they say - "nothing is perfect & there's always a scope for improvement". so just move ahead with it.

keep building. keep shipping. most importantly keep taking feedbacks & improve as u move. that's the journey.

build in public. peace.
